A premier educational institution in the heart of Kolkata, Abhinav Bharati High School has a long history and legacy with its inception in the form of Abhinav Bharati Bal Mandir in 1945. The founder Late Smt. Gyanwati Lath was one of the few visionaries whose dream was to empower and mould young minds to be honest and upright citizens.
Abhinav Bharati Bal Mandir was one of the first Montessori Schools of Kolkata, established 20th August 1945, at 32 Hari Ram Goenka Street. In 1947, the school was shifted to a new building at 11, Pretoria Street where the school continues till date.
The school initially started with 18 children on roll which has now grown to a strength of 1200 students and 100 teaching and non-teaching staff.
Abhinav Bharati High School is one of the first CBSE affiliated co-ed schools in Kolkata which sent its first batch of Class X students for Board Exams in 1994 and the first batch of Class XII students in 1996.
